Starting Organization

Organization: On a field the width of the penalty area up to the half way line (or a little more if the field is short) play 6v6 including 2 GKers. All restarts from the appropriate GKer. Regular game rules including offside with the one condition of play within the MF box having to be 1 touch.

Coach the team to use the 1 touch to their attacking advantage through body shape, movement and support. No restrictions on the number of players allowed into the MF Zone.

Key Factors:

1) Adjust position to support the player in the middle both forwards and backwards

2) Adjust body position to be as open as possible to be able to play first time fwd or bkwd

3) Communication

4) Movement in and out of middle zone to create space for self and/or teammates

Combining in MF

Organization: Same as above.

By having players combine in the MF area and ensuring that each time a ball is received the body shape is optimal and ready to play first time, the attacking team can use one touch play through the MF to play penetrating passes through the defending team for opportunities on goal. Coach switching the point of attack where possible and appropriate.

Key Factors:

1) Communication

2) Play in MFer who is facing forward whenever possible

3) Open body position to play first time

4) Movement to support ball fwd and bckwd

2) Communication
