Screen 1 (15 mins)

Throw in practice and switching play.

The thrower pretends to want to throw the ball to player 2 however throws it short to player 1.

Player 1 brings the ball down while potentially holding off a defender. they then play the ball backto the throwers feet who then must use a body feint on their first touch selling the idear that they're going to pass the ball to player 1 who has made a sharp run and chage of direction, however they actually pass the ball into the feet of player 2 who plays a first time pass to player 1 who then switches play to player 3.

Detail:

Thrower- must be aware of their angles when throwing the ball, player 1 has to be at an angle with player 2 no more than 7 yards behind them. This space is important because the whole move is based on manipulating defenders in 1v1s which is how most teams approach defending throw ins. after throwing the ball the thrower must step fully onto the pitch a move a yard or so towards our goal inorder to create the image of passing backwards to player 1.

Player 1- must be strong and be sure not to be pushed too close to the thrower as they throw the ball or posession could be given away or even worse it could cause a 'foul throw'. An angled 10-7 yards between them and the thrower is a good distance. The first touch needs to take the ball downwards and or preventing too much bounce on the ball so a good pass can be given back to the thrower. player 1 shouldnt go towards the thrower at any point or it will take the defender towards the thrower so as player 1 passes the ball lean back into the defender to encourage them to give chase as they peel off and make their off ball movements. variations will be coverd.

Player 2- Leans on the defender pretending to want to receive the throw behind the defender. as the throw is taken they perform their triangle movement then show to recive the ball or play it 1st time into the space created by player 1. variations based on defenders pressing.

Screen 2 (30 mins)

Adding manipulative runs to open space for a switch of play and cross or through ball.

The positioning of the ST is important as it will determine where the defensive line will be positioned. we want the back line to shuffle towards the nearside so as our LW runs infield their full back tracks them or is distracted long enough to pull them away from the wide channel allowin our own LB to now exploit that space for a pass/switch of play.

the ST needs to position themselvs where the centre circle meets the halfway line on the side closets to the thrower. This is the position as long as the throw in is being taken level or ahead of our own box. any deeper and the set piece changes. if the throw in is higher the ST should stay inline with the same refrence point but move higher up the pitch.

the LW starts from the opposite sid eof the same refrence point as the ST.

all movements are designed to pull the defending team inwards to create the space for the LB to receive the ball.

Screen 3 (40 mins)

Training game, x3 teams of 7 best of 3 goals and off 4 min limit then penalties. Focusing on patterns to build the play. goals from any setpiece within 20 seconds is worth double.

This is to encourage patterns and positive play from all set pieces, but also to instill a good level of concerntration and organisational rediness when defending ALL setpieces at all times.
