Mid Block

Organization:

• Specific MD-3
• 3x8 Blocks
• 32x48
• 7v7
• Defending team apply positions as midfield unit in mid block getting pressure, cover and balance principles across. If line is broken game is free play and they must recover ball as quick as possible. Double points if striker scores 
• Attacking team must move ball across the lateral zones until coach whistle, which then allows them to dominate their direct opponent and progress the ball 
• 4 mannequins around outside of field - on whistle players must recover around the poles on their attacking side before recovering into desired shape 

Coaching Detail:

• Develop and reinforce understanding, appreciation and importance of compactness without the ball 
• Reinforces communication between players - standards driven by them (accountability)
• Screen passes behind and between to prevent opposition breaking lines 
• When can we step into half or full press (Player to player coaching in the game)
• Active in defensive phase 
• Explosive recovery runs if line is broken 
• upon regain of ball - immediate transition to penetrate and score within 6 seconds
