Set up:
Blues: Coached Team (GK-CB-CB-FB-FB-3-3)
Reds: Opposition Team (GK-4-3-3)
Red coned area to keep ST of reds to stretch play (Play over)
Pitch Size: Goal to 10 yards into opposite half, full width to be used.
Play begins from GK who looks to play out, reds look to build up by playing through, around or over and score (In possession)
If ball is won back, can the blues score within 3 passes. (Attacking transition)
Blues look to apply a high press and win the ball back (Out of possession)
Blocks of work:
W: 6mins
R: 3mins
Walk through shape: 1-2mins
Block 1: High press and force one way (Look to play through)
Block 2: Concentrate on switch and dropping into 4-2-3-1 shape (Look to play around)
Interventions: Frame session with coached team and opposition with assistant coach
More during the session and block rest: Con current / autocratic/ manage opposition
Conditions:
1 goal if build up and score (Reds)
Blues receive 2 goals if win high and score
Can the blues score within 3 passes
ST of opposition not to drop over line to begin with, keep play stretched
Key Aims/ Points:
ST angle run and show outside
Wide forward press FB, opposite narrow up inside 6 yard box as point of reference
MD ball side and can we have a pinch?
Back four: Can we stay narrow and compact (Inside 6 yard box) and force outside
Can opposition make the pitch big and wide and look to play forward?
WHAT IF's:
1) Play is switched: ST drop in, wide forward engage CB when step in and cut FB pass (Become a 4-2-3-1)
2) Ball is played long: Recovery runs, narrow and compact shape (force play wide)
