2v2 to Target Players.
Similar concepts as previous exercise - Smaller numbers in order to paint the picture.
Red plays one direction, blue plays opposite directions.
Once targets receive the ball, a goal is scored and the opposite team start with the ball.
- Defending in pairs with a focus on communication and "pressure/cover".
- Take away entry balls in to a target player.
- Force ball one way based off body language/starting positions.
- Intensity of 'step' and footwork.
- Must work off front foot in order to apply pressure and win the ball.
- Always identify where the target player is - Body shape/glancing.
- Visual and verbal communicators.

6v8+1 (+GK's)
Three zones, all players as pictured must remain in zones.
One blue forward in each third is live when the ball is in that third.
Blue forward can defend, win the ball and go to goal.
Red plays to red, can use neutral player to work through central zone if they wish.
Blue must intercept the pass and go to that same goal in the transition moment.
Neutral player plays for the team in possession.
- Shape of the blue four - Nothing through, nothing over, nothing around us.
- Shape of the blue forwards, can you force play one direction, can you take more than one thing away.
- Transition moment from defense to attack - How quickly can you get to goal.
- All points previously mentioned should be coached.

4v4+2 to Target Players.
- Emphasis on individual and group defending.
Blue play to blue target players, red play to red target players.
Two neutral players create overloads forcing defenders to think about more than just the ball or oppositon player they match up with.
Continuous game, ball is played back from target players upon receiving a pass.
- Deny penetration - Nothing through, over or around us.
- Once shape is taken, how and when to get pressure on the ball?
- Detail of one vs. one defending - No arching runs, get there, and get there at speed - Direct route.
- Detail of collective shape - Body language is defending, focus on players, space and the ball.
- Must sense danger when defending directly or indirectly - Intensity level remains the same in both moments.
