Activity Name: Turns To 1v1
Description: Arrange the players in two groups. The first player in each group has a ball. On the coaches command the first player from each group dribbles to the cone in front of them and performs the turn and face move. They then dribble back to the cone they started at and stop the ball for the next player. After stopping the ball the players race out for a 1v1. The coach will play the ball in randomly to either one of the players. Whichever player the coach plays the ball to is the attacker and the player who doesn't receive the ball is the defender. Players go 1v1 to goal. If the defender wins the ball they become the attacker and try to score on the same goal.
IMPORTANT - to keep all players moving get the next players doing their turns as soon as the group in front of them get into the 1v1. Do not wait for the ball to go out to get the next pair started.
Coaching Points:
Focus on the 4 P's - Pressure, Position, Patience, Physical
- Pressure the ball quickly and deny space. Slow down as you get closer to the ball to not over commit.
- Position yourself side on, low down, with weight primarily on the back foot - this allows you to challenge with the front foot.
- Patience when defending. Do not dive in, be patient and wait for a mistake.
- Physical - strike with the front foot. Try to tackle at an angle going across the play.
1v1 Attacking...
- Keep ball close.
- Change speed and direction.
- Use full body to fake players out.
- Use individual moves and combinations of moves.

Activity Name: Double Pass 2v1
Activity Description: P1 plays ball to P2, P2 controls with sole and passes ball back to P1. P1 plays a first time pass to P3. P3 and P2 now work together and go 2v1 against P1. When ball is out players rotate and next 3 players go.
Coaching Points: Futsal specific skills - use of sole to control, sole delay, scooping.- Attacking player in 1v1 to be creative and use different moves.- Look to use toe poke to finish.- Movement in 2 v 1 - avoid overlap - Introduce Blocking, Give and go's, parallel runs.

Activity Name: 3 Player Combos
Description: Players work on building the 3 out of the back. Introduce the following combinations:-
1 - Give &Go - Fixo plays the ball to the ala, checks forwards then moves towards the ala to work a give and go.
2 - Parallel Pass - Fixo plays the ball to the ala, runs horizontally across court then makes a diagonal run behind the defender for a 'parallel pass' down the line.
3 - Fixo plays the ball then makes the horizontal run again. They then make the diagonal run but this time 'block' the defender so that the ala can come behind them and bring the ball towards the center of the court. Blocking player must be stationary when they block, with their hands by their side. Fixo should use the sole of the foot to attack the space centrally behind the ala.
4 - Fixo plays the ball and moves towards the opposite side ala, the opposite ala comes in to the middle and works the give and go with the ala on the ball. Example - Fixo passes to right side ala and moves towards the left side of the court. As the fixo moves towards the left side of the court the left side ala comes across the court towards the right side ala and works a give and go with them. The left side ala is now in the fixo position and the fixo is now in the left side ala position.
Coaching Points:
- Good communication.
- Timing and angles of runs.
- Futsal technique on the ball - sole of the foot, scooping, turn and face, etc.

Turn & Face (15 mins)
Activity Name: Turn & Face
Activity Description: Arrange players in pairs with one ball. Pairs should be facing the sideline. First player with the ball does set ball manipulation skill (4 x soccer boxes, 4 x toe taps, etc). After completing the ball manipulation skill they dribble to the sideline and perform a 'Turn & Face' move. They then dribble the ball back and lay it off for their partner. If you have odd numbers have a group of 3.
Variation
- Skip the ball manipulation skills. This time the player passes the ball towards the sideline and chases after it. They then do the turn and face skill and now pass it back to their partner after doing the skill.
- Player starts with a sole delay (demonstrate/explain what this is and why we use it in futsal) and then passes the ball towards the sideline and then performs the skill and passes to the next player.
- After doing the turn and face skill player performs a scoop back to their partner (again be sure to demonstrate how we scoop and why we do this in futsal).
- Second player has the ball and the first player stands facing the sideline with their legs open. The second player passes the ball through the first players legs towards the sideline. The first player must react and chase the ball, then perform the turn and face move.
Coaching Points
- Explain why we use the turn and face skill in futsal rather than outdoor moves such as pull backs - Because the ball rolls fast on the futsal court. With a move like a pull back you may lose the ball to a defender. The turn and face move keeps the ball close.
- When controlling the ball from the pass MAKE SURE PLAYERS USE THEIR SOLE - heel down and lift toe up, do not stamp on the ball.
- If scooping is incorporated make sure players use the outside part of the foot by their toes. Foot should be angled so it points in slightly.
- If incorporating the sole delay ensure players barely take their foot off the ball and are looking up while doing this.
