OBJECTIVE: To pass or dribble the ball forward
ORGANIZATION : 4 Zones 10 wide by 8 yards long. Attacker A players the ball Attacker B while both Defenders try to intercept the ball or block passing lines. 2 points for a low pass through the defenders
- 2 points for a high pass over the defenders, however more advanced players may make use of this too easily, so can change to 1 point. Passes must be controlled within their area to score an attacking point.
VARIATIONS- Add Goals, gates, targets for the defenders to get the ball into when they win the ball, or add Space behind final zone and 1 GK to defend 2 goals. LINK Field set up to favor the Key Qualities of the training focus.
PLAYER ACTIONS: Spread out, Pass/dribble forward, Support the attack
KEY WORDS: Opening, Connect, Take space, Help.
GUIDED QUESTIONS: 1. How do we create an opening? 2. When do you pass forward to connect with a teammate? 3. How can you help the teammate with the ball? 4. When do you dribble forward?
ANSWERS: 1. By spreading out. 2. When you have opening to pass through. 3. Support him/her by creating passing options. 4. When you have an opening and or space in front.
Note - First break: Coach asks questions; players do not answer but play to discover them. Second break: Coach asks questions and players share the answers.
