Objectives: Fast paced passing possession game. Quickest team to complete X# of passes rotates to the Neutrals position to continue practicing their 1-touch passes.

Possession to Corners20 mins

Session Organization:

  • Field: Set up a square or rectangle ~25 yards each side. 2 cones on each corner to create 4 triangular zones. 
  • Players: Split into 3 teams of 4. One team has each player stand in a corner zone to play as neutrals. Remaining two teams play against each other for possession in the middle. 
  • Teams that make 5 successful passes in a row rotate with the team in the corners. 
  • Neutrals play 1 touch. 

Coaching Points:

  • Work as a Unit of 4, not as an individual or a pair. Move to anticipate and support each other's next pass before they're needed. 
  • The 5 passes must be consecutive. Increase or decrease the # based on coach's priorities.
  • Take advantage of all the space on the field, and make use of the Neutrals. 

Progressions:

  • Add a central goal or 2 goals on the endlines. Now, the team that successfully makes 5 passes can attack the goal and rotate to the Neutrals position after their shot attempt (whether successful or unsuccessful).
