2 Goal Shooting Technical Practice (20 mins)

Key Factors

The player at the front of the line dribbles and gets a shot off at goal.
As soon as the shot has been taken the player at the front of the red line goes, and so on.

Organisation

Each player should have their own ball. It is their responsibility to collect the ball after their turn is done.
This requires two players to play in goal, if there is not 2 goalkeepers in the squad, ensure you rotate keepers every couple of minutes
Switch the players to the other side of the goal about half way through so the players have the opportunity to come off both the left and right
If the lines get to more than 4, then set up 2 side by side drills, utilising cones as goals

Coaching Points

Mechanics: Get your body in a position to strike, Angled approach, Non-kicking foot beside the ball, Head over the ball, Select Surface & Strike (Laces, Inside) Follow through, Accuracy (and Aim)

2 Goal Shooting Skill Practice (20 mins)

Key Factors

Same as the technical practice, but this time after the player gets their shot off they become the goalie

Organisation

Largely the same as the technical practice
Once the player has been the defender he should get off the field and still go and retrieve his ball.

Coaching Points

Often in this drill players get in position to strike on their weaker foot and chose not to, they should be encouraged to strike as soon as they get the chance

SSG - With a Focus on Shooting (20 mins)

Organisation

Use a short field to encourage shooting
Basketball style point system, 3 points from the furthest zone, 2 points from the middle, 1 from the closest
Use neutral bounce players if space is too tight

Progressions

Possibly introduce bonus points for first time finishes

Shot selection depending on body position, position on the field and type of pass received.
