Diamond passing:
Players must always follow their pass
Receiving techniques:
1. back foot, same foot
2. back foot, opposite foot
3. outside foot
4. across the body
Repeat the same process but go the other way.
Players must always follow their pass, however they have to sprint to where they have passed the ball to. This should replicate a defender closing the attacker down and showing him away from goal.
Coaching points:
- press quickly
- side on, forcing the player one way

High Press:
- Defender sends a pass to the attack. The defender then has to close the player down as quick as possible in 1v1.
- Attacker receives and has to dribble pass the defender and score after passing the half way line. They get a point for a goal
- If defenders keep a clean sheet ( stops the attack, by the ball going out of play) they get 1 point.
- If the defender wins the ball cleanly then scores in the mini goals, they get 2 points.
Progression:
- Increase to 2v2
Coaching focus:
- high press, quickly as possible
- side on, showing defender away from goal
- reaction to win the ball and score
- timing of tackles
- delaying the attack
- compact, defend the middle of the goal

Defending equal numbers:
- Play starts from the GK
- Ball goes into midfield
- Midfield attempts to find the striker.
- midfield player joins in the final third to create a 3v3
- defenders (reds) must try and win the ball back in 8 secs. If they win the ball, they get a point. If they win the ball and score, they get 3 points
Challenge:
Same starting scenario
- Challenge is for one defender to jump in the midfield to create a 3v3
- If the attacking team gets in the final zone, one midfielder can jump in (defender must recover) to create a 2v2 and attempt to score
- Progression: defending team can have 1 midfielder jump to support the lone striker to create a 2v2

Ball mastery (20mins) (25 mins)
- Players get in pairs. A pass has to be made in between the cones. Receiving player gets the ball and moves across to the left performing a ball control before passing back with their left foot. Opposite player receives and does the same.
Receiving technique (always going to your left):
1. receive with the right, sole roll, pass back with the left
2. receive, inside, inside, pass with left
3.receive with outside foot, outside again then pass with the left
Duels: Player that passes must apply pressure to the player on the ball. Player receiving must attempt one of skills practiced to get away from the attacker and dribble pass them. The player applying pressure must press to close the space down. Pressing player must focus on their body positioning (side on), and attempt to send the attacker away from goal. 1point for winning successful defense. 2points of winning the ball and dribbling to the opposite line.
