Utilize space and find gaps between lines
Objective: For the team to recognize when we can break lines and find the gaps between the lines.
AH - attacking half
Coaching Points: Movement from the CAM & ST (#9, #10), Head up scanning options to break the lines.
Who: #9, 11, 10, 8, 7, 6
What: For players to recognize when to play between the lines
Where: In the attacking half of the field (centrally)
When: When the opponents leave space between the defensive and midfield line
Why: So we’re able to advance up the field, eliminating numerous defenders from the game

In this stage have the players attacking towards goal while in the attacking half of the field, see in the diagram how the whites are set up with (#9, #7, #11, #8, #10) while the Blues are (#1, #2,, #5, #3,#7, #8, #11)
The game restarts with the ball with the whites on the half way line, encourage the #10 to move and find gaps between the lines i.e. defensive and midfield line for blues. Once the ball is played between the lines can we look to turn and attack towards goal to create a goal scoring opportunity. Once in the gaps we'll need support runs up the field before we lose possession of the ball.
When the blues win possession of the ball they'll need to get the ball into either of the two mini goals on the half way line to score a point.
Progression: Add another CM for the blues to make the game more difficult to find spaces centrally. This should encourage better movement from the players to find space.

In stage 3 have the players continuing to attack towards goal however the game restarts from wherever the ball leaves the field. Can the whites work out how to find space if the opponents are compact and denying space centrally, i.e. utilize the space in wide areas and/or pass backwards to draw the opponents up the field.
In this stage have the Blue playing (1-3-4) and encourage them to prevent penetration centrally.
See in the diagram how the gaps are denied centrally between the defenders and midfielders for the blue therefore the ball is going sideways to hopefully drag the opponents out of their shape and try to disorganize them.
Make sure the whites are scanning the field looking for the right options and moments to penetrate the line, it's equally as important the forward players are moving to create space to receive the forward pass.
Note: If their is no space to penetrate between the lines and the opponents start to squeeze up then look to hit the space in behind, as a result the defenders should drop deeper next time and hopefully leave more space between their defense and midfield.

In the final stage have the teams playing as close to 9v9 as possible and make sure players are looking to utilize space in behind with good movement to come and receive between the lines. (Defence and midfield) See in the diagram how the #9 is checking to receive between the lines, once the ball is going in also see how the #11 is supporting the play.
Progressions: If the players are finding the space easily, challenge them by reducing the depth of the field. As a result it'll create last space between the lines therefore timing of movements and understanding needs to be performed at a much greater level.

Stage 1
In this stage have the players in a 20x20 with the whites having a (#9, #7, #11, #10) and the Whites having a (#5, #11, #7, #6) The green neutral plays for whichever team has the ball, however, acts as the #6 for the whites when playing for this specific team.
The whites need to look to find ways to get past the endline with possession of the ball and score in the mini goal, can we break the line as seen in the diagram to gain an advantage going forward. Once the ball is breaking the line and going forward we need to support the attacking player as quickly as possible before the blues get organized.
Progression: Add a second defender for the blues
Progression: Reduce the dept of the field
