OBJECTIVE
The objective of the session is to increase the comfort of the attacking team with possession of the ball in their own half and provide them with a better understanding of their options on the ball in different situations i.e. the opponent's press. Aspects covered will be:
* Starting shape
* Movement off the ball
* Body position
* Weight & accuracy of passes
* When to pass / when to dribble
* Receiving technique
* Awareness i.e. scanning the field

Same game, but now we are adding the #6. You can add creativity to the passing choices of players so long as everyone touches it from left to right and vice versa. KEY POINT: Sometimes the players will be 'going through the motions' so you can add some pressure by timing them going from one side to the other and back again and getting them to lower their score each time OR setting a time limit you think will challenge them.

Attack vs Defense. Restart always with the BLUE TEAM #1 taking a goal kick. The Blue Team's objective is: EASY: stop the ball anywhere on the Blue line (half way line) or HARDER: Blue team must play into the #9 facing own goal who must link up with a team mate and THEN Blue Team can score by stopping the ball on the Blue line or HARDEST: Same rule with #9 linking play before scoring, but restrict touches to 2 or 3 touches per player, which reset after each pass. The RED TEAM defenders objective is to start at the Green line (build out line) and press together to win the ball. If they win the ball they should try to score on the main goal in 6 seconds or less. The coach should count this down "1,2,3,4,5,6!" If the BLUE TEAM manage to pass through every player and stop the ball on the Blue line they get 3 points. If they manage to stop it on the Blue line without every player touching it they get 1 point. RED TEAM shot on target is 1 point. Goal is 3 points. KEY POINTS: Starting Shape, Open body position, scanning the field / awareness, firm passes to feet, communication, supporting movement off the ball, staying high and wide in possession, play forward any chance you can, use the goalkeeper in possession if needed.

BOTB - Warm Up 1 (10 mins)
This warm up game is called 'Windshield Wipers'. Groups of 4 using a 1/4 of a 7v7 field with true width i.e. 35-40 yards. The players assume the roles of the #4, #5, #7 & #11 and simply pass and move from one side of the field to the other. When it gets to either wide player, they dribble to the line in front of them, execute a turn of their choice then pass to the closest player and move. KEY POINT: Players must maintain their spacing and distance between each other. You can use the analogy of each player having the same long rope tied around their waste i.e. if one player moves, they pull the others. Players want to avoid staying in straight lines with each other and should try to maintain angles.
