Jean Claude Giuntini from the France U17 National team at the 2016 NSCAA Coaching Convention in Baltimore - session on slowing the progression and recognizing allignments in defense. Not many progressions througgout the sessions but lots of coaching points based upon the defensive principles of play working as a unit.

Set Up
Coach removed the chanels and added players to make it 8v8 +1 with goalkeepers
Organization
Players now had free play with an emphasis on previous coaching points. Looking to try to prevent other team from working through the midfield and slow down and attack.

- Recover defensively quicklly upon losing the ball
- Delay counter attack
- Communication with team mates
- Stay connected when pressing as a group
- Line of confrontation

Coach played 6v6 + 1 across the whole area provided. There was a grid in the middle of the field as shown in red as a guideline foe the players positionaly
Organization
Team in black can receive the ball anywhere on the field. white team don’t pressure the ball until they get into the second zone of the field. Black team are trying to work the ball through midfield and score on opposite goal. White team are doing the same. Coaching both teams on the defensive principles
Coaching Points
- Line of confrontation - know when to pressure
- Angle of pressure -cut off passing lanes
- Connecting - if pressing in one of the outside channels all other players should be inside the red square and underneath the ball.
- Close gaps between defensive units
