Working with the blue team out of possession to stop the opposition No.10 getting on the ball,
Area
Organisation
- 5v5 with the defensive team having an additional GK.
Working down from 11v11Blues - 1 GK, 2 central defenders, 2 holding midfielders and 1 No.10 (4-2-3-1)
Reds - 1 holding midfielder, 2 x attacking midfielders, 1 no.10, 1 striker (4-2-3-1)
How
The ball will be played in by the server, Red team will then try to create the overload centrally with the extra man (4v3) looking to break lines and find the No.10.
Blues will stay narrow and compact, stopping the lines of passes into the No.10 if the blue team get the ball back they will try play it up the field looking for the No.10 to start the counter attack as quickly by playing the ball direct into the goals which are strategically placed as this is where the blue wider players would be.
red team striker to give them depth and create space for the No.10, red team to move the ball quickly and limit touches.
Conditions / Challenges
Blue team to stay narrow and compact.
Red midfielder always gets ball from the coach - has 2 options, can either drive in or can pass the ball in to play.
Blue team to be quick playing forward in possession
Coach will then go in to coach the defensive players in how to postion themselves against the overload and how to defend by cutting out the passing lines and forcing play one way.
