Goal: To improve our shielding and turning with the ball. Use this session to allow players to learn different ways to shield and turn, with and without the ball.

2nd Phase, ball mastery/technical work
Objective: To improve our shielding and turning with the ball.
Organization: Everyone, in every line does the same exercise at the same time. As shown, set up a square area, about 25x25y, start with exercise A. The first player in line dribbles to the square and turns using a U-turn or pull back, then passes the ball to the next player. Vary the turns.. for example, use L-turns, step-overs, inside and outside of the foot. In exercise B, the players sprint to the square, turns and checks in for the ball, then dribbles back. In exercise C, the player inside of the square passes the ball to an outside player and receives the ball back. Then the player dribbles to another player on the outside. In exercise D, the player on the inside plays a quick pass to the player on the outside, then the inside player goes to a different player to receive another pass. For the last 2 exercises you can have more than 4 players on the inside/outside.

3rd Phase, game application
Objective: To improve our shielding and turning with the ball.
Organization: In a reduced 7v7 field play 5v6. The Blue team will play in a 0-0-2-3 formation and the Red team will play in a 1-2-3 formation. Balls start from the blue midfield.

4th Phase, game
Objective: To improve our shielding and turning with the ball.
Organization: In a 7v7 field (40Wx60L) play 6v6. The Blue team will play in a 1-2-3 formation and the Red team will play in a 1-1-3-1 formation.

Warm-up game/Rondo (20 mins)
1st Phase, intentional free play or rondo.
Objective: To welcome the players and create positive routine. Encourage the players to take initiative for the activity.
Organization: For a game, set up small sided fields that are approximately 30x40, 4v4, max! For the rondo, play 4v0, with a player sitting out. If a player on the inside makes a mistake, sub that player out. In the 5v1, switch the middle player every time there's a mistake.
