Screen 1 (15 mins)

Set up:

  • 6 players each line
  • Cone at starting point
  • 1st hurdle 10 yards from starting cone
  • Hurdles 1 yard apart

Description:

  • Light jog at 50% to end of hurdles and back 3 times
  • Light Jog to hurdles, bounce over hurdles; hold and pause for a count of 3 seconds and then proceed to the next hurdle repeat with the same foot then jog out
  • Repeat previous action with other foot
  • Repeat 2x each leg
  • Dynamic lunges from cone to end hurdle and jog back 2x
  • Front toe touch same side from starting point to last hurdle 2x
  • Quick shuttle runs at 75% to each hurdle and back to starting cone
  • Grass cutters 2x each leg
  • Hamstring scoops 2x
  • Lunge opening up groin to side 2x
  • Side to side movement in a zigzag pattern through hurdles 2x
  • Lunge movement twisting to opposite side of knee up 2x
  • Explosive runs 3x at 75%
  • Explosive runs 3x at 90%

Screen 2 (10 mins)

Set Up:

  • 20 x 20 area
  • Balls at one side of area
  • 8 players in possession of ball
  • 3 players defending

Description:

  • 2-touch around the area 
  • 3 defenders must win the ball for the first player to cycle out
  • 10 passes or a defensive split and defenders stay in to defend for another turn
  • If players in the middle chase for 120 seconds then play is stopped they are given a 1 min rest for recovery and then start again

  • Body shape of player receiving the ball
  • Body position of player receiving the ball 
  • Body shape of the defending players

Screen 3 (30 mins)

OBJECTIVE:

Working on the movement patterns of the 7, 9, 11 in attack and the 6, 8, 10 in support in quadrants 3 and 4.

SET UP:

Full Width x 45 yards in length

GK + 7 Defenders playing to small pug nets

8 Attackers playing to large goal with GK (If GK is not available then to pug nets in the large goal in the corners)

Balls at the coach (in Black) with balls at Center Circle

WHAT IS TO HAPPEN: 

Coach plays the ball into 6 or 8 looking to move the ball from quadrant 3 to the quadrant 4 finding the 7, 9, or 11.

Movement of the 7, 9, 11 to open space and create the attack towards the goal. Pulling defenders away from the area with the ball through their movement

Strikers recognize where the space is, (or is going to be), and use it to their advantage to unsettle the defensive block

Screen 4 (30 mins)

Set Up:

  • 11 x 11 game 4-3-3 v 4-2-3-1 
  • Balls around the field for quick restarts 

Description:

  • Off the opening kickoff players should look to attack immediately and put opposition under pressure while also being aware of counter pressure.
  • Working on attacking principles of the session and counter attacking opportunities
  • Addressing situations that arise
  • Evaluating player reactions in an 11 v 11 game situation
Coaching Points:
  • Recognizing transitional moments in match   
  • Finding opportunities to win the ball and counter attack in transition in numbers up situations

Duration: 

  • 18 Mins 2 x 8 minute intervals for play and coaching over the play 
  • 2 minute each break
