Technical warm-up ;mega touch (20 mins)

Session Objective: To warm up by getting lots of touches and turns

Organisation:

Two poles,players at each end,ball at each end.Players move from each end and undertake variety of actions:to first pole and back then pass;to second pole and back;to second round first and then to other end etc

Variations are endless and can be either side,either foot etc,

Key Factors:

Change demands quickly so players are constantly having to adapt

4 square Possession drill (15 mins)

Session Objective: To improve possession and speed and accuracy of passing under pressure

Organisation:

Four squares,3 v 1.Players try to keep possession,Player in centre holds bib.If player intercepts/wins ball,he gives the bib to player who lost possession,who becomes man in the middle.

At end of specified time,usually a minute max,player holding bib moves to next square - A to B,B TO C etc

Can vary conditions -number of touches,play i touch then 2,then 1..

Defending as a back four (20 mins)

Session Objective:To improve defensive unit play.

Organisation:

Server A plays ball to wide Red player B.Blue 1 closes down,Blue 2,3 and 4 then move to provide support and cover.

Then switch amd play to C.Blue 4 closes then 3,2,1 balance off.Repeat switching to get back four to move in unison.

If white win the ball they are to counter and try to move ball and run through gates D and E

Key Factors:

Nearest man closes down to apply pressure.Speed to close then brakes on.

Next player provides support .

Organisation:

Server A plays ball to wide Red player B.Blue 1 closes down,Blue 2-8 then move to provide support and cover.

Then switch amd play to B.Blue 4 closes then all red players move across. Balance off.Repeat switching to get nidfield four (1,2,3,4)and back four (5,6,7,8) to move in unison.

Whites again break if they win possession

Key Factors:

Nearest man closes down to apply pressure.Speed to close then brakes on.

Next player provides support .

Objective: to develop attacking play

Practice organisation

Pitch 60 by 40.

2 appropriate sized goals.Balls by side of goals.

Game starts by goalkeeper feeding .

One side restricted to two touch
