Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Task 5 - Coach task 1

Task 5 - Coach Task 1 - Carousel (20 mins)

Organisation

18 players split into 3 sets of 6, within each set of 6 3 reds and 3 blues. Area is a full size pitch split into thirds. Equipment needed is cones, 2 mini goal and balls.

Area 1

• Players remain on the cone they start on and pass the ball in the direction of the arrows. 
• Drill starts with 2 touch and players focus on receiving the ball on the half turn in the middle cones.
• Drill can then be progressed by adding another ball so 2 are going round at once.
• Final progression look to go one touch, middle players allowing the ball to come across their body before passing back out to the corners.

• Small sided game managed by the coach, conditions to be added as the frill goes on. 
• Teams must make 5 uninterrupted passes before scoring a goal.
• Game starts with as many touches and then progresses to 2 touch to encourage ball movement and turnover of ball.

• Long range passing drill. Players play a long range pass to partner who looks to control within the shaded area and then pass back. 
• A point is scored for the pass landing n the shaded area.
• Players lose a point if they their first touch takes the ball out of the shaded area.
• Drill is progressed by players being challenged to chip passes into the shaded area.
