Organization:
1. 5x5 center square
2. 12 players (8 outside, 4 inside) set up as shown
3. 4 balls (Additional around the outside)
Instructions:
Different types of movement and receiving:
1. Players on the outside start with the ball. Inside players CHECK to the ball and play a double pass. They then return to the square, CHECK to a new target and repeat.
2. Inside players CHECK to the ball, receive, turn, dribble the box, then play to a new target. They then return to the box, then repeat.
3. Inside players play a double pass, but then DRIFT wide to receive at an angle on the back foot, then dribble the box and repeat with a new target.
Coaching Points:
1. Get in line with the ball
2. Check your shoulder
3. Open body shape
4. Receive on the back foot
5. COMMUNICATE! Call for the ball, point to where you want the pass
Progressions:
- Add a defender: this player is holding a pinnie and trying to steal balls in the middle, if they steal a ball and dribble into the box they get a point.

Organization:
10x20 channels. 4-6 players in each channel. Balls at the ends of each channel.
Instructions:
Players move to receive the ball in different ways. Progress from A to B to C.
(A) The player opposite of the ball CHECKS toward the ball and calls for it. Receiving the ball, the player turns and dribbles back to the line he came from. The player that passed the ball now checks into the middle and receives a pass to continue the pattern.
(B) The player opposite the ball checks toward it but doesn't receive a pass so they DRIFT wide
to provide a passing angle. They receive the ball with their farthest foot and dribble back to
the line they came from.
(C) Finally, the player who has drifted wide does not receive the ball so he shows through the middle
with a SLASHING diagonal run.
Coaching Points:
- Head on a swivel, check your shoulder
- Communication
- Open your body when drifting wide at an angle
- Timing, quickness of movement
Progressions:
1. Passive opposition: Have a shadow defender follow the checking player out. The ball is passed to the checking player and then passed back. Player then drifts wide to create a passing angle. The defender is instructed to follow the ball. This leaves player open to receive the ball and dribble back to the line he came from. Shadow defender then checks to the other side to receive, and a new shadow defender comes out.
2. Have the defender follow the drifting player which leaves room in the middle for a
slashing run to receive the ball.
3. The defender can choose whether to follow the ball or the drifting player
4. Full opposition: Allow the defender to try to win the ball
