Forward Ball Rolls/Backward Ball Rolls (15 mins)

Players start at the top of the penalty area

Players move the ball forward with the sole of their foot to the half way line

Once players make it to the half way line, they drag the ball backwards with the bottom of their foot

1v1 Aggression Game (20 mins)

Players find partners, 1 ball per pair of players, 1 net per pair of players.

Both players lock arms and grab the back of their partners shirt.

One player must score while the other stops them.

The player with the ball can only use the sole of their foot to move the ball and to shoot.

The player with the ball should be encouraged to constantly get loose from the person holding their shirt doing anything necessary.

The opposing player can do whatever is necessary to win the ball back.

Once the opposing player wins the ball back, it is their turn to score.

Coaching Points:

Encourage aggression, but not punching or kicking. Allow most fouls, but call fouls made through blatant aggression.

Pushing is allowed to an extent. Use your judgement to determine if it is too much.

If a player uses ANY part of the foot other than the bottom, the players switch roles. Call this every time you see it.

2v2 Games (15 mins)

Players can only use the bottom of the foot. No passing, shooting or dribbling with any part of the foot other than the sole.

If players use the wrong part of the foot, call it as a foul and award possession to the other team.

Do not count goals scored with anything but the bottom of their foot.

We will rotate the teams after 10 mins

Coaching Points

Play area is as long as the penalty area. Use the vertical penalty lines for reference on the field.

If we have odd numbers, an overload/underload game is fine. 3v2 or 4v3 is 100% fine.

If you see tactical opportunities that players miss such as a switch of play, clear pass or lack of structure, freeze the game and show them. We want to make sure that players in possession have a backwards, sideways or forward passing option. In 2v2, there should always be a backwards passing option or "last man back"
