Turing technique (20 mins)
Organisation:
Area set out as in diagram,
Players split into 4 groups, 1 group per cone.
4 balls,
Instructions:
First player in the group dribbles into the centre and on approaching the cones he performs the designated turn before dribbling back to his group and passing to the next player to repeat,
Turns:
1 - Drag back (Foot on the top of the ball and drag back using the sole turning 180 degrees)
2 - Cruyff turn (Shape as if to pass or cross but then drag the ball behind your standing leg with the inside of foot)
3 - Stepover touch (Shape as if to pass / shoot but then step over the top of the ball and using the outside of the foot touch the ball back in the opposite direction)
Coaching points:
•Keep the ball close to body.
•Keep head up, eyes scanning the field, and be aware of surroundings.
•Good balance with knees slightly bent. Knees bent will help with change of speed, change of direction, change of pace, and balance.
•Players should be able to change direction quickly and affectively.
•Be able to perform moves and body feints.
•Change of pace.
