1v1 Skill Intro II (10 mins)

Progression: Area: increase to 10 x 15 grids with 2-4-6 goals, divide players at each end, create extra grids if more than two players at each end.

Progression: Player "A" passes to Player "B" and moves forward to actively defend, Player A must move beyond the half way marker to defend (this is to have the defender moving forward quickly) , If "B" gets beyond the half way marker before "A" they have free passage and either scores in a goal or passes to the next player at "A" original starting position and moves to that position, sequence starts again with next player at "A" position. Original "A" moves to end of "B" starting position and "B" visa versa. If "A" wins the ball they pass to the next player in the original "B" position and moves to that position, sequence then starts with next "B" player.

Coaching Points: Attacker dribble at speed, change of direction, change of speed, faints, step overs, scissor movements. Judging distance at which it is best to beat the defender, too late (defender too close) allows defender to challenge ball, too early (further away) allow defender to change direction/speed.

1v1 Skill Training (20 mins)

Area: 30 x 40 with three vertical zones, 2 two small goals at each end (position not important) Players: 8-16 two even teams (attacking joker can be used with odd numbers)

Explanation: Play starts with Attacking team collecting ball from their goal and attacking goals at opposite end. The team that starts play is allowed unrestricted access to playing area, starting defensive team must have two players in each zone and can not move between zones, this is to create more 1 v 1 opportunities, if the defensive team wins the ball they can attack their attacking goals. Goals worth tripple is a player has successfully completed a 1 v 1 and scores. Team that scores restarts play, if the ball goes over the end line defending team restarts and becomes attacking team.

Coaching Points: Perception: space in behind to complete 1 v 1, defender movement can I get them off balance, distance to the defender Decision: direction to run the ball into: technique to beat defender change of speed, change of direction, faint, step over, scissiors; when ito do this. Execution: attacking defender at speed, chosing right time to beat defender.

Step Up: restrict both teams to zones, narrow field. Step Up: Widen field
