Attack vs Defence

Two teams are made, the attacking team will have 6 players active, the two "lower midfielders", the three attacking midfielders and a strike. Their goal is to score on the big net. The defending team will have 5 players, finding themselves in the shape of a diamond plus one in the middle, their goal is to stop the attacking team from scoring. If the defending team wins the ball back, their goal is to play it into one of their two players inside the wide gates. Whenever a goal is scored, or the ball goes out of play, the ball will always be served in from the coach who will pass the ball to one of the deepest midfielders.

Progression:

- When the defending team wins the ball and plays it into one of their targets, if the target can bounce the ball back to one of their teammates within two touches they get an extra point.

Coaching Points:

Attacking

- Fluidity in movement, the middle three attackers can change roles and positions as long as the wide channels and central channel is occupied.

- Break lines with passes or dribbles

- When possible ensure first touch is forward

Defending

- Stay compact, force the attacking team to play around you as opposed to through

- Top of the diamond must dictate the play and force them one direction

- When the ball is played wide, the wide defenders job is to force them backwards and not give them the line

Attacking Transition

Their will be a box set up with four players trying to keep the ball away from the three defenders. Once the ball is won by the defenders, their job is to try to find one of their attackers out wide or up front. When the ball is played to one of the high attackers, the play is live and it becomes a 5v5 (meaning two defenders in the square can join the attack, and one player who was trying to keep the ball can also join).

If the team defending the big goal wins the ball, their objective is to score in the mini-goals wide.
