Technical Turning

Organization: 30x20 yard area. All players with ball. Players split into two even groups.
Instructions: Players dribble around and on coaches command find a player in an opposite color then perform a turn infront of them and quickly dribble to the nearest sideline turn there and then continue dribbling.
Coaching Points:
1. Head up to see opposing player
2. Technique of each turn (taking away with nearest surface)
3. Look over shoulder to see space and nearest side line
4. Look to explode after turn with Ronaldo dribbling
6. Exaggerate each turn to create space.
Progressions:
P- Make one color passive defenders and the other color attackers, now the defender can try to poke ball away from attacking player.
P- Two grids/ two teams competing vs. one another

Organization:

2. 8 players (2 team s of 4) set up as show n
3. 12 balls
Instructions:
1. A ctivity starts with one player passing the ball out between the red gate towards other player and then they attempt to score in either goal
2. At the same time, a defender from the opposite team com es out to defend and w in the ball, if they w in the ball they must attem pt to score
3. Team s m ust alternate between attacking and defending after each attem pt
4. Play first team to 10 goals
Coaching Points:
1. 1st touch; under control
2. Turning technique; taking away with the nearest surface
3. Getting defender on back with players body in between the ball and defender
4. Transition
Progressions:
1. P – Once the attacker leaves the box they must score in the closest goal
2. R – Give the defender more tim e to recover by dictating w hen the new attacker can go

Organization:
1. 40 x 30 yard area w/2 Pug mini goals.
Instructions:
1. Play 3v3 or 4v4 tournament (depending on #'s as turnout varies)
2. If 9/ players then divide to 3 3-person teams & play "winner stays on"
3. If 12 players then create two (2) small fields and have simultaneous 3v3 games going on...
4. Each match should be 2 either first team to score 2 goals or 2 minutes in duration (keep tempo high)
5. If three teams have "winner stay on" -- if 4 teams then play a 5 minute match and have winner play winner from other field.
6. No throw-ins nor corner kicks - all OB on end line brought forward by defense. All OB can be played in by either a dribble or a pass.
Coaching Points:
- Free Play
- consider use of a central cone if palyers are not laying too deep on D & not advancing to support attack. Restriction would be that all players need to be on "attacking side" of cone for goal to count.
