TRAINING SESSION OBJECTIVE: Seek opportunities to penetrate under control in build up play in the defensive half

COACHING INTERACTIONS:
1. WHAT: SEEK opportunities - players off the ball identifying cues and scanning to provide appropriate options to circulate in order to penetrate and/or penetrate.
WHEN: in the defensive half when the ball carrier needs a passing option (w/ pressure or w/o)
HOW: CP’s will be used primarily in planned stoppages and followed up in the flow. If needed, freeze moments but ideally not.
2. WHAT: Players position themself in a position and angle to receive the ball and orientate themselves to play forward if possible.
WHEN: when players are receiving passes from the defensive half but aren’t shaping their body in a benefit to play forward or out of pressure.
HOW: CP’s will be used primarily in planned stoppages and followed up in the flow. If needed, freeze moments but ideally not.
3. WHAT: technical execution of passes needed to successfully break pressure. Technique will be dependent on the pass required. Weight through ball into space; zipped in pass between tight spaces; firm passes to avoid ball receiver to be challenged on their first touch
WHEN: Will be dependent on player needs in build up

Learning Activity: Modified Game Form
Activity Objective: Introduce intention and use of height, width, depth in order to seek opportunities to penetrate/play forward to break lines
Number of players/opponents: 3v3+1
Size/Shape of Field: 15x15 each field
Methods of Scoring: Attacking team has to stop the ball on the endline
If and when going to mini goals, attacking team has to be in attacking half to score
Total Activity Duration: 20 minutes
Active Duration: Rest Duration 2:00/1:00 *use body language to assess intensity and fatigue and adjust accordingly*
Number of Sets: 6 (3 endline, 3 to mini goals)
Activity Rules (KIS KIS):
-Team out of possession can only press with one player in the attacking half
-Can progress to two players and then lift the restriction as well.
-If going to mini goals, attacking team can only score in A 1/2
Restarts: From where the ball goes out, pass ins, no throw ins
