5v2 Over The River (15 mins)

Organization:

  • 2 grids with Gap in middle. 
  • (2)14 x10 grid split with 3 yard gap. Team in possession looks for 3rd man combinations. 
  • 2 min x 4 round. 20 min total

Instructions:

  • 2 Recovery players in each grid/ Ball transfers after 3 passes - PROGRESS TO 3 Defenders
  • Recovery team wins ball and either connects with other possession team or scores a goal for 2 pt. 
  • Team in possession looks for 3rd man combinations.

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Breaking on angles
  • counter pressing moments
  • moving opponent to move the ball

Instructions:

  • Team in possession- keep ball as long as possible
  • Focus on getting #8/#10 in Half space zones
  • First team to 40 passes win, last 10 have to be consecutive 
  • Use the whole space while staying inside the grid

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Positional discipline
  • Recognition of when to drive - CB's
  • CM's occupation of space

  • Attacking team set up in 4-3-3 Shape (Intentional Possession)
  • Defending team in 4-2-3 shape
  • 2x7 min games with stoppages and resets after each ball
  • 1 Transition moment

Instructions:

  • Attacking team starts with 3rd man sequence to trigger the game
  • Once CB receives the ball the opponents wingers press the CB's

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Outside Backs become Free Man
  • Wingers high & Wide
  • Playing in opponents half to attract to break pressure
  • Finding 1v1 in wide areas
  • 2v1 with Outside Backs joining play on switch of play in attack
