The focus this week will be adding to the players mentality of being first to the ball now facing 50/50 balls when the pressure is from side on angles. we will work on unbalancing players using our physical attribute and agility as well as approach, speed of movement to get to the ball first with a focus on pre planning and making the decision what to do next .

Organization:
10x20 grid
4-6 players per grid
set up multiple grids to cater for numbers eg above 1 grid
2 different color cones in the middle
Instructions:
1. 1 player from each line starts at the base line of the grid moving side to side on their toes waiting for coaches command when they meet in the middle they must touch shoulders getting used to contact 25% Power
2.when coach shouts go!!! the two players must race to get to their color cone first coach will designate color. switch colors so players have to cross each other.
3.to win the player must step over their cone first. 1 point for the winner
Coaching Points:
-staying ready on your toes and in training position
-pushing off the back foot to accelerate
-correct sprinting form
-reaching top speed
-angle and line of run
-observation
-mentality to be first
-shoulder barge technique
Progressions:
-still keeping the both color cones down,now have the players go to one cone, coach picks the color first one to step over wins

Instructions:
1. 1 player from each side starts at the base line of the grid moving side to side on their toes weighting for coaches command bumping shoulders 50% power
2.when coach shouts go!!! the two players must once again bump shoulders then race to get to their ball first coach will designate what ball the players go to.
3.to win the player must get to their ball first for one point then across the opposite end line first to win a second point.

-reaching top speed

-excelerate with the ball

Progressions:

-Players must now get to their ball first to win a point then shoot first to win a second point coach pick the target for the players N or S

Instructions:
1. 1 player from each line starts at the base line of the grid moving side to side on their toes weighting for coaches or player command bumping shoulders when meeting in the middle 50%
2.when coach or player shouts go!!! the two players will bump shoulders trying to unbalance or force each other of line and race to get to their ball first coach will designate what ball the players go to
3.to win the player must get to their ball first,whichever player gets to their ball first will attack the their designated goal to score.
4.option 1 ,A players (attacker) if they get to the ball first they must shield the ball and try to come back towards to the south facing goal, this will create the scenario of a Center Forward(#9) winning the ball 50/50 and then trying to turn to goal with back to pressure.if D player (defender) steels or wins the ball first they transition to the North facing goal.
5.option,2 A player if they wins the ball first they go to the north facing goal continuing to accelerate with the ball they must take at least 1 touch after first contact then shoot at earliest glimpse of goal.this will create a scenario of 50/50 ball with pressure from the side with an emphasis on getting the correct first touch to set the player in there strid to score .if D player steels they transition to south goal.
6.players rotate lines after each go swapping responsibility of A & D players.

Progressions:
-Place only one ball in the middle of the grid and now the players go for the same ball trying to win it first then score.

Organization:
20x20 grid
players split into 2 groups
2goals in opposite corners
coach serves ball from the middle
Instructions:
1.coach will serve the balls out from the middle the players must attack 50/50 to win the ball and aim for the target of coaches choice each side will be a different role Attacker or Defender.
2.after the game finishes the winning team with the most points gets to have a free pass from 20 yards out to try and meg a member of the opposite team
3. if you get megged that's 5 Press ups per meg

-lean away to unbalance force from opposing player
Progressions:
depending on the age and ability of your group you can distribute the ball in the air for the 50/50 challenge.

SAQ Ladder warm up U9+ (10 mins)
Organization:
two ladders set up in 10x20 grid
two cones placed in the middle of different colors
Instructions:
1.players must perform the ladders steps then stretch,or accelerate ,once they get to the cone they will create a spring knee over toe to get around the cone and accelerate to the opposite side of the grid
Coaching Points:
Ladder steps
-2 feet in over the top straight
-2 feet in over the top body side on and straight through the ladder
-2 feet in 1 out side to side body facing forward
-2 feet in the center of the ladder then two feet out body facing forward
stretches
-open & close the gates
-leg lunge
-inside & outside foot tap

-side to side knee spring

-jog
-through the gears 25%-100%
-sprint 100%
Progressions:
Make it a competition once the players are warmed up coach will choose which ladder step then the players must race to the end line to win.
