Closing Down (10 mins)

1v1

Ball in centre. Players work in pairs, both start at their respective goal, first person to ball is the attacker, second is defender. Players have 10seconds to score. If defender intercepts they attack opposite goal.

Coaching Points

1. Early pressing. Blue should be closing as ball moving

2. Stopping distance. Players must know why important to keep players at arms length

3. Body Shape. (Low CoG, angled approach, weight on front of foot)

Recovery (10 mins)

As previous, this time both players start at same goal. One is nominated attacker, the other defender.

Attacker must dribble ball into goal not kick from half way.

Defender must run past ball and turn so they are set to defend. If defender intercepts they can dribble to other end.
