Transitional Activity 2

Mark out a 40 x 30 area with two mini-goals at one end and a big goal at the other. The pitch will be divided with a half-way line and the half of the pitch with the big goal will have two, five-yard wide channels.

The players will be split into two teams of five, one team will attack towards the big goal and the other will attack towards the two mini goals.

The game will always start in the half closest to the two mini-goals. The Yellow team will have three players positioned inside the playing area and two support players positioned at the end of the playing area. The Red team will have all five players positioned inside the playing area.

The practice will start in the half of the pitch closest to the mini-goals. The Yellow team can play to any other Yellow player in the practice and must combine for a minimum of five passes before they can score in one of the mini-goals. The Red team must look to win back possession and counterattack towards the big goal.

When the Red team win back possession, two players must move into and occupy the wide channels in the half they are attacking. The Yellow team must react quickly to Defend, with the two players positioned on the outside of the playing area recovering inside the playing area as quickly as possible.

If the Yellow team can successfully win back possession the game continues as a normal game until the ball goes dead at which point the game restarts with the Red team in possession, attacking the two mini-goals.
