Set-up
40X30 grid divided down the middle
2 teams of 4
3 neutral players (one on each end and one floating in the middle)
All restarts begin from the coach
Objective & rules- Possession
Players look win the ball and keep possession with the neutral team.
Once posession is gained, players will look to find any of the end neutral players. While retaining posession, the same team will look to combine through to reach the other end zone with possession. If the defensive team takes possession, they will keep the ball while looking to link up with neutrals.
Neutrals are restricted to 2 touch.
If too much dribbling is taking place, coach can add touch restrictions
Time and scoring
Games will be two minutes in duration (stopages in between will be for coaching points and switching neutrals)
7 comsecutive passing completions = 1 point
Combining from one end zone to another end zone through possession = 1 point
Coaching Points
Receive the ball across your body- Allowing the ball to run across your body allows you to open your hips up to the field as well as provides options for possession
Move the ball with your first touch- This allows you to move the ball away from a collapsing defender. Keeping the ball constantly moving will also shift the defenders to open up passing channels.
Pass and move- As the ball is played, the natural defensive reaction is to visually follow the pass. By passing and moving, you are creating space for yourself to get the ball back.
Messi Mentality- always want the ball. Ask yourself How can I get the ball back?
