Game Related Practice
Organization: 7v7 in the attacking portion midfield 1/3. The blues start with the ball at midfield and look to attack the main goal on the end line. The Reds defend deeper than their zones until the ball has gone past them. The blues can move anywhere but should look to maintain their shape and have players looking to threaten in behind at all times. Once the ball has been played into the final 1/3, the red defenders can track and defend as usual.
Coaching Points: timing of movement, weight of pass, straight ball-diagonal run, diagonal ball-straight run, clever run-simple pass

Conditioned Game
Organization: Pitch size is 18 yard area to 18 yard area with the game play in the middle 1/3 between the yellow markings. Each team plays 7v7 and looks to play balls in behind the yellow markings to create chances. Defenders cannot retreat past the yellow line until the ball has been played in behind.
Progression - the yellow markings are only for reference and the 7v7+GKs game is played from 18 to 18 with the offside rule.
Coaching Points: double movements to get in behind, movement in the gaps between defenders, vision to play pass into space, weight of pass, combinations to exploit open spaces in behind

Phase of Play 1
Ball starts in the middle with the holding midfielder. He plays to a fullback, who passes forward to the attacking midfielder in between the defensive lines of the opponent. Whent he attacking midfielder turns, the ballside winger and center forward look to make runs in behind. The weakside winger runs in behind to get in for a possible cross.

Phase of Play 2
Ball begins out wide with a fullback. The fullback plays into the holding midfielder who turns to face forward. The center forward checks into the space in between the lines and receives the 'up' pass and plays a set for the 'back' pass to the attacking midfielder. The attacking midfielders has options for which 'through' pass to play - wide, central, combination
Coaching Points: 3rd man, up-back-through, double movements to get away from marker, timing of movement to exploit space, dragging defenders out of position, running in behind when teammate is facing forward

Warm Up
Organization: Passing Pattern to create up, back and through movements to get in behind. Play begins with a square pass at midfield. The player who receives the pass takes a positive first touch forward and dribbles to begin the sequence. The ballside wide player runs in behind and then checks to the ball just in front of the mannequins and receives the 'up' pass. The ballside midfielder makes a move to get underneath the forward player and receives the 'back' pass and looks to play 'through' the mannequins for the opposite winger running in behind. The opposite winger receives and shoots on goal. Alternate which side the exercise begins from.
Coaching Points: Timing of movement, weight of pass, double movement-run short to run behind-run behind to run short, body shape when receiving to play forward, angle of pass, speed of run in behind
