Footwork

Organisation

  • 5 poles
  • Flat discs
  • small hurdles
  • Balls

Description :

Balls to be placed in between poles as outlined above.

2 goalkeepers to work at a the same time. Goalie A will move from starting point red disc and receive a 1-2 touch and pass from Goalie B . Goalie A will then move in between position 1 & 2 whilst goalie B will move in mirror sequence to the next ball. repeat all the way to the end. 

this will then be repeat in reverse back to the start where the goalies will swap. 

Progression :

One touch and move quickly on toes to next station.

Goalie A can take a touch and maneuver up and around the pole and back in to position to receive the next pass - pace and endurance.


Key Factors

  •  working on foot work - 2 touch and pass off whilst moving between poles.
  • power in the delivery and touch on receipt
  • hand position and coordination.
  • Always on their toes.

Handling

Description:

1 Ball starting with player B, goalkeepers to work at a the same time. Goalie A will move from starting point red disc and receive a an under arm pass to the Goalie B . Goalie A will then move in between position 1 & 2 whilst goalie B will move in mirror sequence to the next ball. repeat all the way to the end.

this will then be repeat in reverse back to the start where the goalies will swap.

Progression :

  • Goalie B can deliver the ball with more power (from over head).
  • Deliver the ball from foot - volley.
  • Up the tempo

Key factors :

  • hand eye coordination
    • W catch with prepped stance - set position
    • Knees slightly bent shoulders slightly bowed forward.

    Knee drop/Barrier

    Description

    Ball starts with player B who will roll the ball to player A (starting position between red disk and pole 1). Keeper A will preform the barrier or knee drop. receive the ball and roll it back to player B. Both goalie will move from pole to pole preforming this action. Once they have reached the end of the setup they then move back up to the starting point preforming the same actions

    Progression:

    • Goalie B can drive the ball on the floor through their foot instead of rolling.
    • More pace when moving from pole to pole. 
    • Goalie A can pass the ball back using their feet instead of rolling the ball.

    key points:

    • BOTH goalies to be on their toes.
    • Goalie A position and angle when dropping their knee
