Corner Taker (25 mins)
Method:
Corner Taker Practice
Just try target each section, pick a section give yourself a target say 5 into zone 1 for now, keep attempting corners and once you hit 5 in zone 1 then move onto zone 2 or zone B.
*No harm trying to kick in both intwining on one side and outswinging on the other side* But focus on normal intwining and master that first.
Coaching Points:
- We are not trying to find a player, we are trying to get the ball into the area selected.
- 2 ways of delivering we are looking to work on are:
- Lofted ball in : Kick under the ball with a hard strike
- Driven ball in : Kick the centre of the ball, big run up and hard strike.
- Work on what technique works for you, once you'r happy and you'r getting the ball into the targeted area then mission complete.
Progression:
If you have a team mate get him to play a bounce pass and then try target the areas.
(Example is the players in yellow combining with an overlap to then cross in the selected area, usually aim at back post area or penalty spot area)
Notes :
1 = 1 Hand - Front Post
2 = 2 Hands - Back Post
B = Bounce the ball twice - Penalty Spot
*These are our 3 signals as to tell us the area the taker is targeting and also our 3 set plays will be named 1, 2 & B
Make sure the ball is lofted enough to beat the first man, I have a mannequin in the picture as to an area you need to be getting over (above there head) This mannequin is not needed during your practice.
