Edgemont Badgers/Warriors 10/21/17 Updated 10/22/17
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Organization:
As above. Field 45x35 . Two small goals on each end of the field. Defenders in a line next to the goal (gray players) and attackers in two lines at each corner as above (yellow players). All balls in one line with the attackers. Two pugg goals in the middle sides of the grid if using goalkeepers and big goals.
Instructions:
Attacker with the ball raises his hand to start activity (visual cue for players). Attacker drives with the ball into the middle while other attacker makes a overlapping run around him. Defender comes to defend as soon as the attacker raises his hand. If attackers score, it is one point for their team. If defender wins the ball and scores on the first transition, they score a point for their team. Each team plays one round of attacking and defending and whichever team has the most goals at the end of two rounds wins the game. Play best of 3 games. Switch starting line every game (balls from right corner and left corner). If using goalkeepers, goalkeepers can score a additional point for their team by using a windmill throw into either side pugg next after making a save (distribution).
Coaching Points:
* Angle of dribble, how does it affect my teammates overlapping run?
* Driving in with the ball, smaller touches when approaching the defender
* Timing of the overlap, DON'T BE OFFSIDES!
* If defender is gaurding the pass, cue for dribble 1v1 (What if)
* If defender is gaurding 1v1, cue to play the pass (What if)
* Use of disguise to pass (using a scissor, or the outside of their foot to pass)
* Correct windmill throw technique (goalkeepers)
Progressions:
P1: Defender passes the ball out to the attacker to start the game (more pressure, first touch coaching points)
P2: Defender plays long ball in the air to the attackers to start the activity

Organization:
As above. Field is 45x35. Two pugg goals on each end (can substitue for larger goals with goalkeepers if availible). Balls with attackers in a corner, with three lines of attackers (yellow players) and two lines of defenders (gray players). Two pugg goals on the sides in the middle of the grid (if using big goals and goalkeepers).
Instructions:
Attacker with the ball raises his hand to start activity. Defenders can take five big steps forward towards attackers and then raise their hands to begin attacking sequece. Player with the ball drives to the middle just like in the 2v1, with the middle player running a overlapping run. The outside player stays in his lane to help the attackers. The two defenders step up to defend. Defenders are allowed one transition to score if they win the ball. Play 3 minute rounds, two rounds per game. First team to win best of three games wins. If the goalkeeper(s) make a save, they can score a addtional point for their team by distributing the ball into either middle pugg goal for a point after making a save.
Coaching Points:
* If defenders are flat (level) through ball in on.
* If defenders commit and stay narrow, pass to wide area is on
* Using overlapping runs to pull defenders apart (when/why)
* Staying in all three lanes during attacking phase (form a triangle)
* Delaying attackers first, then winning the ball second (defending)
* Quick counter attack after winning the ball back
Progressions:
P1: Only the attacker who lost the ball can transition to defend after losing the ball on attack (1v2 for defending team)
P2: Game starts with a long ball out to the attackers from defending line.
P3: Game starts with a goal kick long ball from the keeper(s)

* Using positioning to create overload situations (and overlapping runs)
Progressions:

P2: Goalkeeper can use feet or hands, and any completed overlapping run around the goalkeeper (with clean completed pass) is a extra point.
