Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Creating Scoring Chances

3v2 to big net (30 mins)

Session Organization:

• 25 yds wide by 20 yds deep rectangle
•  3v2 plus a goalkeeper in the square
• 3 players around the outside to serve balls in and provide different starting points for attackers
• one defender waits to rotate in. They can rotate in every rep.
• play starts when a red player, numbered 1-3, checks to a yellow player and asks for the ball. Each time the play restarts, the red team has to have the next numbered player check for the ball. Defenders and attackers should change their starting positions to create new attacking scenarios for the attacking team.
• After play starts, red tries to score on the big goal, and blue tries to dribble across the other end line.

Technical Points:

• create space
• take defender on when there is space
• make decision quickly to dribble or pass
