Diving in Goal

Session Organization:

  • GK starts on goal line and takes ground. 
  • S1 plays ball to GK bubble
  • Gk moves to cover s2 shot. 
  • S2 plays ball to near post for GK to dive to

Progression: add S3 to create an opposite side recovery, where S3 plays a ball to the far post.

To work on same side recovery, has S3 play the first low ball to the near post, then have S2 serve the ball after.

Technical Points:

  • stay low when moving
  • extend with bottom hand
  • engage core to get up quickly
  • use legs to gather momentum to get up
  • use hands to help you up
