Forward runs practise 

Place channels either side end zone either side. One end zone has goal GK opposite end zone has 2 small goals. 2 x teams of 5 Players + wide player in each channel. Middle zone is divided in half with 3 defenders and 2 attackers in each half. If defenders play forward they can join in to create a 3 vs. 3 + wide players in the attacking half. Wide players can drive inside to combine with attackers.

Key Points:-

-Team in possession to use wall passes, penetrating passes, 1-2's, overlaps, underlaps and switches of play to combine.
-Encourage players to attack with speed and make forward runs to create an attacking overload.
-Players should time their runs so they are running onto the ball in order to attack quickly. If the player does not receive the ball then they should check their run and make a different movement.



Progression-

Players can move freely within the area now however, each team has a designated wide player they can play through. 


Make it harder:-
2 touch limit to add speed and more emphasis on forward runs 

Make it easier:-
Add floater to make overloads 


Progression key points:-


-Players should feel free to rotate positions to create passing lines and space. Working with teammates to rotate, for example, one player starts high and another player starts short and then they switch roles to create space to receive the ball.

-Encourage players to make the pitch as big as possible to create space for forward runs.

-Players are encouraged to be creative in their movement to lose their marker whilst recognising visual cues of when the ball is moving and create a forward run to break the lines of the defence.
