Four Goals Switch with outsides

Set up

Two team of equal numbers on the field

Extra players supporting on outsides

Four small goals

Game

Play soccer and score in one of two goals.

If outside support players are played the person that passed to support must switch. The receiving player steps into the game, the passing player steps off field in a supporting role.

Screen 2

Setup

- group players in three's, no need to separate by colors.

- on ball in each group

- open space, no confined spaces required

Game

Each group will pass the ball between players in their group. Coach can allow one touch or two touch, assign as appropriate. When coach yell's ATTACK, the player that is in posession attacks the other two players. He tries to get to space behind the other two players. Attempt to beat players on the outside or right between. Two defenders organize immediately to win the ball back. Play stops once ball is won or defenders are beat.

Points

Attacking - Player in posession should attack with great pace as soon as coach yells. Player should recognize best angle of attack. Player should attempt to use moves to beat an opponent on the dribble.

Defending - Other two players must communicate and organize to put pressure on the ball and cover the teammate.

Overload Game

Setup

- four pug goals

- four teams of three or four players

- circle field vary in size based on age group and the potential for 10+ players to be in the circle.

Game

Each team has one player in the circle to start. Coach starts play by playing ball in the middle of the circle. Each player can score in any of the other three oppenents goal (never your own goal). Player that scores gets to add a player to the game. Game continues until one team scores with all teammates in the game.

Points

This is a game of overloading players on the attack. Defensively the other teams have to work together when short handed.

1v1, 2v1 attack in the box

Set up

Three cones outside of box as shown

Three attackers line up on cones

A fourth player to start play.

Game

Central attacker and fourth player pass back and fourth. Central player passes to another midfielder at random. Attacker that receives the ball immediately attacks goal and other wide attacker drops to defend and attempt to stop a goal or block a shot.

Play must be quick and should not slow down. A shot should occur in seconds.

Next rotation, two players that started play become the wide attackers and two new players start play with one touch passing.

Progress to 2v1. Central attacker joins the attack to create a 2 v1 situation.

Points

Quick pace dribble to go to goal.

Good first touch to goal.
