Descripción

Practice these at home. Remember... if its too easy, you can always make it harder by making it a tighter area or doing it faster. You dont need cones, use anything to mark out your area. eg)old paint cans, buckets, water bottles, jumpers.

Practice at least 4 times before our next training. Ideally though you could be out every day.

Bonus points if you go for a 10 min run after and try to do it again with tired legs.

Off the wall and control. (10 mins)

Method:

  • Kick the ball against the wall and control it inside the box
  • Make the box whatever size you feel will challenge you
  • Use your weak foot twice as much as your strong foot.
  • Make it hard for yourself by playing a hard pass against the wall.
  • Practice for 5 mins and then challenge yourself to get 10 in a row without leaving the box.
Once you have completed the challenge, move onto the next drill.

Coaching points:

  • While practicing, try controlling it in different ways like: Back foot, Outside of the foot as if you are holding someone off, try kicking it out of your hands and control it on the chest or thigh. 
Too easy? Make the box smaller.

2 Touch Wall Drill (10 mins)

Method:

  • Set up a small gate
  • Pass the ball off the wall, control it through the gate with your first touch and play the ball off the wall at the other side of the gate with your next touch.
  • After the next rebound off the wall you should control the ball behind the gate back on to the left side and begin again by playing the pass off the wall.

Practice for 5 minutes then challenge yourself to do 5 in a row. too easy? go for 10 then.


Coaching Points:

  • See how many repititions you can do without needing a third touch.
  • If you are looking for more of a challenge, play a harder pass off the wall or make the gate further away from the wall

Volley, Control, Bounce, Volley (10 mins)

Method:

  • Line out a playing area that you must stay inside.
  • Volley the ball at the wall.
  • Control it before the ball bounces
  • Either volley or half volley it against the wall.
Practice for 5 mins and then see how many you can do without the ball leaving the area or taking a second bounce.

Coaching Points:

  • Size of the grid isnt important. Just make it challenging for yourself at all times.
  • Controlling the ball on the thigh is a great way of controlling a ball that is coming in the air as its is quite a meaty part of the leg. Use this to your advantage. The chest is also a great option.
