Objective.
To prepare the GK for a pressing session where the GK may have to be quick off their line due to team playing high and the opposition counter attacking.
Utilise S and C segment to work on explosiveness and speed due to the GKs role within the team when pressing.

15 minutes
Power movements into shot stopping
1) Gk performs a vertical jump to immediately drive into a sprint into mini goal for handling
- focus on explosiveness on contact with floor.
- speed over 15yards (replicating coming off line for through ball)
-decelerate into mini goal for handling
Progression
2) Gk catches a high ball with a 2 footed vertical jump and discard ball immediately, on coach with the floor, coach rolls a ball for GK to drive into a pass into a mini goal ( replicating a sweeper keeper)
- focus on explosiveness, speed into ball, decelerating to find and scan a pass

3) Repeat previous drill, add a recovery run back into goal for an angled strike to protect the goal (replicating back pedalling on transition)
- focus on crossteps initially to gain momentum and decelerating into set position for shot.

Small side specific pressing
Organisation - 6 v 6
Structure - Gk clips ball into other GK, Blues must look to build play and score into mini goals. If reds win ball back they must score with a through ball with in 8 Seconds
Condition - Blues can only score once they have completed 4 passes (to encourage transition)
Coaching points for Gk
- Antincipate through ball, adopt sprinters stance and be ready to act a sweeper
- be explosive if committing to coming out
- if retreating to goal, get in position quick by adopting cross over step for speed and balance.

Pressing small sided game
organisation 8v6
Conditions
Red back 4 are limited to defensive third.
red wingers can only enter attacking third for a through ball, using the halfway line as an offside line
Structure
play starts with Red GK goal kick. Reds look to build play and play into 6 who has to play a winger with a through ball. Reds cannot be offside using halfway line as offside line.
if blues win the ball back they have 10 seconds to score.
GK coaching points
Blue GK
- High starting position to act as sweeper keeper due to high press.
- front foot stance ready to sprint for through ball
- decision making, if not getting to through ball, retreat back to protect goal/area.
Red GK
- be ready for transition in case blues win ball back high up the pitch
- speed across ground if pouncing on loose ball.
- decision making.
