Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): FRONT # ATTACK

WARM-UP (15 mins)

Organization:

• 25x25 Grid / Split 4 12x12 Boxes / 3 teams of 4 / 1N.

Instructions:

• Counter-Press Rondo 
  • Team starts possession 4v3+N in one of the boxes. Team must connect 8 passes before attempting to play ball to different box = 1pt. When losing possession, team must react aggressively (counter-press) to stop the opponent from breaking out of the box they lost possession in. If they allow opponent to break out of the box, they must all go to middle marker before initiating press in another box.
  • To defend, team can send up to 3 players to defend in each box. At winning possession, team must connect one pass and send ball into a different box = 1pt. 
  • 4x2 minute Rounds. Change N every round.

Coaching Points:

• Counter-Pressing
  • Aggressive reaction at losing possession of the ball. 

Progressions:

• Teams can play ball out of grid immediately after winning it.

OLI - 10v10 (30 mins)

Organization:

• Two Thirds / 10v10 / Mini Goals + End Zone.

Instructions:

• Attacking Shape 2-3-5
  • Game starts from Blue CBs - These are on 2 touches as well as the 6.
  • ATT
    • Attacking Shape 2-3-5
    • Create/Exploit Overloads - Understanding FB/FW/CM Relationship
    • Goal = 1pt
  • DEF
    • GK-4-2-3 / GK-4-4-1 Defensive shape.
    • Deny penetration and scoring chances. 
    • Dribble End Zone -or- Counter Goals = 1pt

Coaching Points:

• Attacking Shape 2-3-5
  • Movements to get in attacking shape.
  • FB/FW/CM Relationship - Rotate and position in different lines.
  • Create/Exploit Overloads - Understanding of Half Spaces.
