Drill - Control
Set Up
- groups of 4/5
- 10x10 box
- player works in the middle
- 3/4 feeders on the outside - at least 1 must not have a ball
- middle player to work for 1-2 mins then change
Description
- player on the inside to shout for the ball
- outside to play pass to inside player
- inside player to have correct body position for their next pass
- inside player to find the player without a ball on the outside
- take first touch in the correct direction
- play pass to the outside
Coaching Points
- communication
- scan - where is that next pass going
- does the receiving player communicate with information
- body position to receive
- cushion the pass in the direction of play
- does the player trap the ball - too close or firm ankle - too far away?
- close control - play pass to open player
- is the movement good to then receive the next pass
Progression
- every other pass is a bounce pass with diagonal to work different passing patterns

Game Related Practice - 4 x 4 squares
Set up
•4 x squares – 3 x possession team 1 x defender per square
•Keep possession 3 v 1
•Prog 1 – on the whistle ball to move from group to group
•Prog 2 – on the whistle ball to move from group to group, defender to go in the opposite direction

Team 1 – 4-3-3 Team 2 – 0-3-3
Description
Team 1 to play out from the back, using Def or CDM to get on the ball and score in the bownets.
Team 2 to apply pressure get the ball back and score in the big goal.
Conditions – players must take 2 touches when possible
Playing out from the back - attacking
•Triggers for GK to get back 4 in position
•Don’t move too early
•Players to drop into the box to receive
•Wide 2 dropping to receive
•Mid 3 – forward 2 to get as high as possible to create space, CDM to drop and get on the ball.
•On the CDM getting on the ball the Wingers to get as high and wide as possible, FB’s to provide support.
•When under pressure, get the ball to the FB’s and clipped into channels, get the defence turned. (goals in this game)
•Striker to show to feet, set and spin.
Playing out from the back – defending
•Striker to stay central
•Wingers in narrow, split FB and CB
•As ball is played to either side the striker to get over, winger to apply pressure, Mids to get tight, FB’s push up and get close.

•Player on the inside passes to outside then goes and receives from another on the outside who has a ball, dribbles and finds another player on the outside without a ball and passes to them
•Progression – players to find a player in the middle for a bounce pass with.
•Player on the inside with ball, passes to the outside, outside players takes a positive touch into the box dribbles and finds another player on the outside to pass to.
•Player on the inside passes to the outside, receiving player plays a bounce pass then drives into the inside and drill continues.

•Information – show with hands, communicate, loud
•Accuracy of pass, weight of pass
•Body position
•Does player receive on the correct foot, does that touch take them in the correct direction.
