Description
Session involves 14 players
Begins with a generalized warmup, moves into a technical possession practice including progressions and then into a phase of play possession practice
Emphasis placed on quality of possession and positional understanding in phase of play

Technical Warmup:Rondos (15 mins)
Organization: Area: 10x10yds (x2)
5 v 2 per area.
- Possession practice to circulate possession and encourage good technique done in 2 minute rounds.
- Player who loses possession: change with player to your left if possession lost.
- Footballs at the side of the playing area to enable quick restarts
- Includes GK to work on footwork
Round 1: 2 touch max. Can make pass in one touch but have extra touch if required.
Round 2: 1 touch max. Increase in tempo of ball circulation. Players to count number of passes achieved.
Round 3: 2 touch max to consolidate and prepare for next possession practice.

Progression:
5 v 2 transitional Rondo. 2 players(red) go and defend in blue players(5) area.
If red players win the ball back in the press, look to transition ball(T2A) back to their team and rejoin their side. 2 blue players will then transition to defend(T2D) in a counterpress in the red side to continue the game.

Phase of Play (25 mins)
Organization: 6v8(incl GK) attacking through the midfield in the opponents half setup in half pitch
Red team start in a 2-3-1 formation
Blue team in a 1-4-1-2
Coach will start play at the half way line
6 Attackers(Red) start in possession in the opponents half with the aim of playing through the midfield to create scoring opportunities.
7 Defenders(Blue), including 1 Green GK, hold compact shape and look to disrupt attack. If blue team recovers the ball T2A and try score in either of 2 mini goals
Coaching points:
- Width and Depth
- Good angles of support and distances between players
- Opposite movements between midfielders
- Quality of passing
- Open body shape and receive on the back foot to play forward
- Players understand objective and aim of session.
- Understand width and depth
- Understand how to attack through the midfield
- Understand how to create numerical mismatch in midfield by advancing ball side centre back high and wide into the midfield.

Dynamic Cool down
Organization: Players go through sequence of low intensity dynamic stretches across a 20x10 area
2 lines of players, exercise out and jog back along negative space.
Players follow one another and stay in their queues

Dynamic Warm Up (10 mins)

Coach goes through sequence of football specific dynamic exercises to warm up entire body ready for football activity.
Dynamic Exercises: Range of exercises for hamstrings, quads, groins, hips done in a dynamic fashion. Include fun reaction exercises to test players awareness and reactions
