As the GK secures the ball, the 2 CBs split depending on the pressure that is upon them. In this case, they have moved right up to the line of the six yard box.
In this case, players have got max 3 secs on the ball as we are in the defensive third of the pitch. Their idea is to build up play out of that zone to score in the goals marked by the yellow cones. To score a goal, the player has to run with the ball through the goal.
The strikers in blues will press high in this case. If the win the ball in and around the edge of the box, they can take their shorts straight away. If they win the ball around the midfield third, they have got 10secs to counter.
Play always begin with the server through to the GK.
Progressions:
Server to become defender for the blue team, defending both goals.
Bring in a deep lying midfield for blues and 2 CM for reds.

What: We want to build up attacking play from the back using the goalkeeper and the back 4 players, and the idea is to play our way out from the back around or through the 3 strikers.
How: The drill will involve a goalkeeper with their back 4 v 3 strikers and a server. The practice begins when the serve plays a pass to the GK. When the GK secures the ball, the play is live with the two CB making their movement in relation the GK, likewise the two full back. (see screen 2)
Why: This will help the GK and the back 4 to keep possession of the ball when under pressure from opponents. Also, creating the width and depth will provide space which can be exploited when playing through or around oppositions. Again, keeping the ball under pressure in our own half will free up space behind our opposition half, which we can exploit and penetrate when attempting to create scoring chances.
Who: GK, Back 4 v 3 strikers
