Description

looking at how we can win the ball high up in attacking third to create attacking transitions closer to the goal. Focus on the following:

  • Pressure, cover, balance - who presses, where do we cover, how do we provide balance.
  • Angles and distances of support - compact and narrow shape, forcing attackers to play negative passes and using the sideline as an extra defender.
  • Communication and organization - take responsibility to pass on information and help pressing players make better approaches cutting off passing lanes
  • Decision making - do we have numbers up, Delay attacker - to allow support to arrive, Deny space - to force negative pass or mistake, Deflect ball -  interception f ball with angle of approach Defend- close attacker down win ball
