Useful for developing many 1v1 skills, whilst increasing pressure, and maintaining quality of passing and control on receiving. A by-product is the understanding of the closing down player of the idea of being 1st pressing defender and shutting off one option rather than attempting to win the ball.

Basic coerver box , group in each corner, with each group performing the same movements at the same time. Each group initially works as per A>B.
1. Run with ball, 2. Sole roll R then L foot. Now ball on R foot. Do R drag back on R of mannekin and then pass behind L leg to set up 3. L foot pass to next corner.
*Ball on correct foot.
*Move executed correct distance from mannekin and correct foot - Right is shown
*Protect ball on output - opposite arm up
*Early pass, last look up
*Receiver check out/in - trigger is A head up/shape to pass.
*Communication both ways
Rotation is : follow pass and join next corner queue. Next player now becomes next receiver and take pass from adjacent group. ie next A rxs from D.
Progression 1 - as above but use other foot ie go other way round.
Progression 2 : All groups as per D>C
First player in line D1 goes to cone and faces second player who has ball.
1.D pass to D1.
2. D1 1st touch R foot to go R. D closes down D1 (stay close to marker) as ball is received. D1 does DBP under pressure and comes out with ball on L foot for 3. pass to C. Also C is checking out and back in.
* coach the closing down player to 'press' the players touch.
*dont be afraid of upper body contact
*closer defender gets the less he can see of the ball.
Rotation : Follow pass, D>D1, D1>Cq, and same for all corners.
Progress to go other way round using other foot.
Progress by removing cone to make more realistic.

20X20m area.
Basic 2v2. D1 rolls ball before passing to A1. As attack, must be over half way to score. Ds defend - D2 must run - AFTER A2 1st touch - round cone before being active. If Ds win ball back they can attack the As goal.
Coach As as follows:
*Positive 1st touch
*Maintain width and/or support
*Use 1v1 moves (esp those recently learned) to beat Ds and score/pass
*Exploit overload while it lasts
Coach Ds (review) :
*Closest to ball is 1st defender - close down quick, bending approach run to screen any possible pass to A2, touching close maximum, delay as much as possible so D2 can become active.
*D2 becomes 2nd defender providing cover at 7m distance, and communicating.
*Changeover of 1st and 2nd defender as As pass between them and point of attack changes.
Progression 1 - Allow D2 to move when D1 passes. Also can move cone closer so easier to defend and As must move faster to exploit overload. Adjust position of these to suit.

*point out the number of times the ball is lost when immediately attacking after just winning possession - so sometimes we must go back to regroup.
Progression 2 - consolidating possession in a flowing game. When possession changes ball must be played out (ie back) to next player (ie D3 or D4) BEFORE attacking again. As shown.
Now its a 3v2 and blacks attack.
Whites continue serving UNTIL they win possession, when they pass out to a 3rd man AND the black loosing possession goes off.

30 x 20 pitch. 4v4 or 5v5. 5 ball game.
When ball leaves pitch, the conceding player must go fetch it.
The rest play on with 1 team a man down by using nearest ball to restart with a pass or dribble.
The ball retreiver must replace the ball on the free cone.
When goal is conceded restart with a dribble or pass.
*Encourage use of 1v1 skills WHERE and WHEN
*Coach Width and Support
*Coach 1st and 2nd defender principles - delay, isolation, depth
*Coach attack OR consolidate ??
Progression : goals must be one touch finish.

Inside twist off.
Dribble R footed towards L side of 1st mannekin.
As ball passes mannekin stop and make a R inside cut with your back to the mannekin.
R arm raises to protect.
Make a 2nd R inside cut as you spin away to your L and raise L arm to protect.
As ball moves towards next mannekin prepare to make a L inside cut and repeat.
*protect space on way in
*keep low
*keep turning
*protect on way out

Step forward to catch ball under L foot as R foot moves in between 2nd marker and ball.
Repeat with L foot drag back to R side of 2nd marker.
*get standing foot next to marker/defender
*swing hips to get some forward ball movement as you complete the pass behind
*reinforce protection of space with arm nearest marker/defender - see final marker
