Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): Combination Play To Create Goalscoring Opportunities (Passing Patterns Through Central Areas) (Start Time: 2016-05-05 19:00:00)

Passing Practice (10 mins)

Football Problem

When building up through central areas from the consolidation phase to the incision phase, we lack the ability to combine the midfielders with the attackers to create goalscoring opportunities

Session Objective

In this session I aim to improve the ability of my midfielders and attackers to combine centrally to create goalscoring opportunities

Organisation

Play starts with a pass between the #3 and #4, the ball is then played into the furthest midfielder who plays it back to the deepest midfielder. At this point the #3 and #4 who started the play make their way to the other side of the practice while they perform dynamic stretches. The ball is then played to the opposite #3 or #4 by the deepest midfielder. Play then restarts from the other end

When the ball is played out of the midfield, one of the midfielders leave and one of the defenders come in

Organisation

Three teams of 5 + GKs

Rotate teams periodically

Play starts with the coach in the target zone

The Yellow team play a 5 v 3 in the back grid (consolidation phase) then once they reach the middle grid (incision phase) by combining with the Blue team, they play an 8 v 5 to try to create a goalscoring opportunity

If the Red team win the ball they try to score in the small goals or by playing the ball into the coach in the target zone

Players on the attacking team are on one touch if they receive the ball facing backwards

#7/11 are one one touch unless they can take their first touch past the opposition to create a goalscoring opportunity
