WARM UP: KNOCKOUT

WARM UP : KNOCKOUT

Each player has a ball and dribbles it within the area. Each player attempts to maintain possession of their ball while attempting to poke other players balls out. Players can't leave their ball to go and knock another one out. All balls must be poked out of the grid and not in the air (safety) If a ball is dribbled outside the grid or knocked out of the grid, players conduct 5 toe taps/juggles and rejoin the game.

Variations:

Coaches can make the grid smaller

How many balls can you get in a a two minute game?

Elimination: if you get knocked out, you remain out

Team vs Team

One player comes in and wins every ball

SHARKS AND MINNOWS

SHARKS AND MINNOWS

Players with balls (minnows) attempt to dribble thru the Sharks safely to the other side. If players ball is won by a Shark or knocked out of the area, the dribbling player now becomes a Shark

Dribbling players can't chip the ball into the air (safety). They automatically become a Shark. Keep the ball on the ground. If a Shark uses their hands on the ball at anytime, the dribbler gets free access to the other side.

Variation: Add two central goals. If a shark wins a ball, they can score in either goal

BALL IN HAND

1V1 SHIELDING

* Players must engage their opponent and shield the ball. Not just dribble away at distance to escape.

In pairs, one ball between. Start by having one player hold the ball on the ground with one hand (only one hand can be on the ball at a time) and shield it from their partner. The partner attempts to steal the ball and shield from their partner. Play for 30 seconds. When the coach says "time" the player in possession of the ball holds the ball up above their heads and is the winner

Progress:

Players pass back and forth about 10 yards apart. When the coach yells "play " or claps his hands, the player in possession of the balls turns and shields their ball from their partner.  Play is for 30 seconds. If ball is stolen, that player shields the ball. The player in possession at the command of "time" by the coach, holds the ball above their heads and is the winner.
