To have the GK's moving through the exercise using short, sharp, controlled steps & having early eyes on the ball at the end marker
Instructions:
The GK moves through the poles and sets at the end marker for a service from the coach
service: c-catch, L & R mid, L & R ground
Progression:
Move the poles wider apart so they have more of a distance to cover but the should still be moving forward and not crossing their feet
Coaching points:
* Short, sharp foot movements is the key here, the leading leg being used to give the opposite power and driving the power into the move
* GK is getting early eyes on the ball as he moves through the poles
* GK is setting in the correct position
* GK watches the ball into his hands
** There should be little or no spilled balls in this drill as it is their warm up, correct anything spilled at that time**

A 2nd coach is used for the 'deflected ball'
Coaching points:
* The GK is moving in a controlled and balanced manner
* GK is getting inline with the ball quickly
* The GK is securing the ball
* Is the GK narrowing the angle
** For the younger groups the hurdle may have to be put more into the goal so that it does not get in the way on any secondary movement**
