SSG 1 (20 mins)

Time: 20 Minutes

Organisation:

-30x30 grids.

-Split players into even teams.

-Place one player of each team on outside and others inside the grid.

Exercise:

-Ball is served into grid by the coach.

-Players play 3v3 inside.

-Team in possession aim to retain possession and get the ball to their team mates on the outside.

-If they pass to a player on the outside that person brings the ball into the grid and creates overload.

-Aim is to get all of their players inside the grid to win the round.

-Players on the outside can cut out passes as well as the players in the middle.

-After 5 minutes or completed round swap with players in other grid.

-All play each other once.

Key Points:

-Communication.

-Creating angles for passes.

-Exploiting overload situations.

SSG 2 (20 mins)

Time: 20 Minutes

Organisation:

-Same grid as previous but split in half and extended 5 yards with 3 goals as illustrated.

-This time players are in teams of 6 with common players and split evenly on each side.

Exercise:

-6v6+2 game scoring in any of the 3 opposition goals.

-Players pass and move inside their sides of the grid and transfer the ball between the sides.

-Play with no GK.

-Play 5 minute periods then switch teams over.

-All teams play each other once.

Key Points:

-Creating overload situations with use of the common players.

-Looking for space to exploit on both sides of grid.

-Decision making processes when in possession.

SSG 3 (30 mins)

Time: 30 Minutes

Organisation:

-As wide and long as possible off side of 3G to rugby goals (approx 45 wide and 35 long).

-Split players into 3 even teams.

-2 teams inside and other outside as common players.

-Place a goalkeeper in every goal.

Exercise:

-Play 8v8 inside the grid.

-Team in possession can score in any of the oppositions goals.

-They can use the common players on the outside.

-The common wide players can also score goals from their wide positions but cannot comeinside the grid.

-Play 8 minute periods.

-Switch teams after each 8.

Coach Change Up:

-Randomly throughout the game put a second ball into play and have two going at a time. (Only occasionally and not constantly).

Key Points:

-Utilising the space in tight areas to attack and create scoring opportunites.

-Take opportunites to take shots at any goals.
